Checklist
Pet Travel to United Kingdom: The Complete Checklist
A week-by-week plan, from six weeks out to the day you cross.

- 6 weeks out: confirm the microchip, then book the rabies vaccine if it’s a first dose.
- 1 week out: book the Animal Health Certificate visit and, for dogs, the tapeworm treatment.
- Day of travel: AHC, vaccination record and tapeworm proof in your carry bag, not checked luggage.

Step 1 · 6 weeks before
6 Weeks Before
Start the paperwork clock now — the microchip-then-rabies sequence, and the 21-day wait behind it, need real time to land correctly.
-
Step 2 · 3 weeks before
3 Weeks Before
The rabies wait should be clearing by now. This is also the point to lock in transport and accommodation before good options fill up.
-
Step 3 · 1 week before
1 Week Before
This is the week the two tightest-timed appointments both happen — the Animal Health Certificate, and the tapeworm treatment for dogs.
-
Step 4 · Day of travel
Day of Travel
The paperwork should be done. Today is about keeping it within reach, and getting the practical carry-on items right.
