Eating Out
Eating Out in Spain with Your Pet
Spain's 2023 animal welfare law flipped the default: a bar or restaurant that doesn't want pets now has to say so, in writing, at the door.

- Ley 7/2023 flipped the default: no "no pets" sign at the door generally means your dog is welcome, indoors included.
- Animals still can’t enter food-prep areas, and a venue can refuse a dog that poses a genuine risk.
- PPP dogs keep their muzzle on indoors too, same as any other public space.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants & Terrazas
A genuinely national rule, not a guess: a bar or restaurant that doesn't want pets has to post a sign saying so — otherwise, assume you're welcome.
-
Restaurant Etiquette
Beside or under the table, never on a chair — check the entrance sign first, since in Spain the absence of one usually means you're welcome.

Markets & Food Shops
Outdoor market streets are almost always fine; stepping inside a small food shop or supermarket is a different, more hygiene-driven question.
