On the day itself, keep the EU pet passport or health certificate, the Tullverket registration number (or be ready to report orally at a customs point if you didn't file online), and your transport booking confirmations all within easy reach rather than packed away.

If you're flying on SAS, arrive with enough time to handle the pet check-in process separately from your own, particularly for hold travel. If you're taking a ferry, check in your pet's cabin or kennel booking as early as the operator allows. If you're driving over the Öresund Bridge, know in advance whether you've already filed the Tullverket report or still need to report at a customs point.

Once you've arrived, save a local vet or djurakut (emergency vet) number immediately, covered in the Health section, even if you don't expect to need it. And if your trip includes any time outdoors between 1 March and 20 August, start the leash habit from the first walk, not after you've already let your dog off-lead once.
