Austria has an extensive network of campsites, ranging from large lakeside resort-style grounds, especially around Carinthia's lake district covered in the Activities section, to smaller alpine valley sites geared toward hiking and mountain access. Most accept dogs as a matter of course, though policy, fees and any restrictions are set by each site individually rather than by a single national camping body.

A leash rule within the site itself is close to universal, for the obvious reasons that apply at any shared campsite: children nearby, other guests' dogs, and close pitch spacing. Many sites also expect waste cleaned up immediately and may cap the number of dogs per pitch, so it's worth confirming the specifics with the site directly when booking rather than assuming.

Sites near a lake with a dedicated dog-swimming area — several of which are named in the Activities section's Carinthian lake guide — tend to be especially popular for exactly that reason, letting a dog access the water straight from or near the pitch rather than requiring a separate trip to a dog-friendly beach elsewhere.
